Releasing an Alpha for testing

After finishing Just Another Stacking Game, I had multiple ideas I wanted to work on. But then I came across Homa Games Monthly Game Jam and started thinking about joining in. That was on Thursday evening (deadline of the jam was on Tuesday). During Friday, I decided to take part. Few ideas came into my mind during the day but it was only when I was falling asleep when the best one emerged. Let's make something like a tower defense but with static towers and based on colors!

I started working on the game on Saturday evening. I wanted to finish at least something on Sunday so I could take part in few unofficial GG jams. Fast forward to Sunday evening, I had a solid demo to publish. It took me about 12 hours to put everything together. I would say that the most time consuming thing was to actually prepare all the assets and polish some details. The core of the game was quite easy.

The game is called Neon Defense, it is made in Unity, and the main concept lies in destroying enemies by clicking on your towers with the same color as the leading enemy has (that's the enemy who is in front of the enemy wave). The concept is very simple but surprisingly interesting and not very familiar (when compared with JASG which was obviously hugely inspired by popular Stack game). I knew I want to build the game primarily for mobile, that's why I develop it in default portrait mode.

What's next? I'm currently in phase of narrowing the scope of the game and deciding which features to include in the final version. I'm also considering a cooperation with some of the game publishers to make the game really serious business. Neon Defense is coming to your Android very soon!
